The Vow and Brexit: what happened?

According to the Unionists Scotland only would have been allowed to remain part of the EU if we voted no to independence

There were even threats that all banks would leave Scotland if they would have left the union and thus the EU, that all supermarkets would have left Scotland as they could no longer trade if the borders between England and Scotland would close, you could not think up a wilder story or they used it.

So a lot of people that initially intended to vote YES but that worked for companies that relied trade with the EU, Sole traders that were depending on the EU trade, were made so scared by the broadcast on the BBC and what they read in the newspapers, that at the last minutes they voted no.

In the period of the Purdah, which is the pre-election period in the United Kingdom, specifically the time between an announced election and the final election results.  This time period prevents central and local government from making announcements about any new or controversial government initiatives (such as modernisation initiatives or administrative and legislative changes) which could be seen to be advantageous to any parties in the forthcoming election.

Thining back to the referendum in the last days before the referendum the unionists made "the vow", which meant that if we voted no we would get much more powers, which basically meant independence without the official title.

This has as result that Scotland now, because of that vote, is being dragged out of the EU against our will.

Scotland does want to stay in the EU and wants an independent contract with the EU to keep access to the single market and is not scared of those EU citizens coming to Scotland to make a good life for themselves by working hard. Some say they take our jobs, but then think of all the scots that live abroad and have the jobs in those countries. They all pay tax and their services are quite often very needed. Think about the NHS for an example, there is a massive shortage in Doctors and nurses, but we can hire foreign doctors to fill the gap, so everyone can keep relying on getting the medical help they need. That is maybe even the worst thing of the brexit as Scotland voted No to leave EU, as did Northern Ireland, but Mrs Therea May says that the vote has to be honored and we have to leave the EU.

Because of the amount of citizens in England is much larger than Northern Ireland and Scotland combined, we never stood a chance. Hopefully the court case saying the House of Commons has to vote if article 50 can be triggered, will chance things as even a lot of English MP's do not want to leave the EU as a lot of their constituents have found out AFTER voting what they actually voted for

ONLY nine per cent of Scots believes that “The Vow” has been kept, according to a new poll. The Vow, signed by Prime Minister David Cameron, then Labour leader Ed Miliband and then Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg promised Scots more powers if they voted No in the independence referendum.
